ELECTRONICS.CA PUBLICATIONS, the electronics industry market research and knowledge network, announces the availability of a new report entitled "Global Base Station Market Analysis".

The global base transmitting station (BTS) market is on track to hit the forecast for unit shipments. BTS units for the first half of 2010 achieved 51.9% of the projected forecast for 2010, indicating that despite the Indian embargo, the industry was on its way to another growth year.

“The transition to remote radio unit (RRU) base station architecture is moving faster than researchers predicted. Base stations using RRUs comprised 45.1% of overall 1H2010 shipments with Nokia Siemens Networks the market leader in RRU shipments,” says analysts. Nokia Siemens Networks was the overall leader in total base station unit shipments as well as for GSM shipments. Ericsson was the top supplier for both W-CDMA and next generation LTE shipments while ZTE captured the top positions for CDMA and TD-SCDMA.
