Sales growth of paper-thin displays was very healthy the past two years, and is expected to continue increasing at a rapid rate over the next five years, fueled by the heavy demand for portable electronic devices such as mobile phones.

In a recent release, PAPER-THIN DISPLAYS: TECHNOLOGIES AND GLOBAL MARKETS, the global market value of paper-thin display technology was nearly $1.4 billion in 2010. That value is projected to reach $8.3 billion by 2015 as it increases at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 43.8%.

Global markets for paper-thin display technology can be broken down into four segments. The largest segment, constituting 96.2% of 2010 market revenue, is electronic portable devices. Worth $1.3 billion in 2010, the segment should be worth nearly $8.2 billion by 2015, yielding a CAGR of 44.4%.

The next-largest segment in 2010, automotive displays, was worth $16.3 million that year, and should reach $37.5 million by 2015, for a CAGR of 18.1%.

Signs and displays for advertising make up the third-largest segment. Its value was $11.6 million in 2010 and should rise to $43.6 million by 2015, a CAGR of 30.3%

The segment made up of other devices, whose 2010 value was $22.8 million, should increase by 2015 to $61.4 million at a CAGR of 21.9%.

Sales growth of paper-thin displays was very healthy the past two years, and is expected to continue increasing at a rapid rate over the next five years, fueled by the heavy demand for portable electronic devices such as mobile phones.

This report will be most useful to those who supply raw material or manufacture process equipment for paper-thin-display production, fabricate devices that utilize paper-thin-display technology, or those planning to manufacture, sell, or distribute paper-thin displays.
