The semiconductor industry is well known for the rapid pace of technical innovation. Memory companies go through half-pitch shrinks yearly and logic companies go through node changes every two to three years. Looming on the horizon is a wide variety of new devices, materials and equipment: MRAM, PCRAM, RRAM, Multigate, FDSOI, III-V/Ge channels, BST, STO and the list goes on. If you need to understand and plan for these transitions the IC Knowledge Strategic Products are the solutions for you. The Strategic Products present you with easy to use models based on the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) that fully map out the implications of these technology transitions.
The Strategic Cost Models are fab centric models that implement all of the products and half-pitches defined in the ITRS. The models are fully pre-populated and you simply select a product and half-pitch, the country the fab is located in, the Wafer size, the year and the fab capacity and the model produces a detailed break-out of equipment requirements, material consumption and wafer costs for the fab. The latest version of the model is in late beta release and adds the ability for the user to fully customize the process, equipment and materials sets and 300mm and 450mm wafers are supported over the range of years from 2000 to 2029. The model comes as an equipment edition with full wafer cost, equipment details and customization and summary materials information and as a materials edition that adds materials details and customization.
The brand new Strategic Industry Forecast models implement the ITRS and present a forecast model for the entire semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment market, also from 2000 to 2029. The equipment edition is currently in early beta testing. The model has a silicon demand front-end that is prepopulated and user editable to forecast silicon demand by product type including every product supported in the ITRS. The model then presents the processes required to make the products, the fabs required and finally detailed break-outs of equipment by type, by product, and by wafer size for 300mm and 450mm wafers. The model is highly customizable through a variety of user editable prepopulated defaults. A materials market version is also in development.
Both products included 12 months of updates with phone and email support.
The Strategic Cost Models and the Strategic Industry Forecast Models all work off of the same basic data set and assumptions so all of the projections are fully self-consistent across the products. The models also update in real time whenever user edits are made so what-if scenarios can be quickly and easily modeled and evaluated.
