The strength of Switzerland's electronics industry lies in a small range of niche products, with high added value. Control and instrumentation, and consumer goods (mainly watches) are the two sectors of industry, which dominate Swiss electronics output. Watch production is the major industry accounting for 29.6% of total production with control and instrumentation having a 28.9% share in 2009. In 2009, communications (fixed and wireless) and computer equipment accounted for only 6.5% and 3.6% of total output, respectively. Electronis production declined by 11.4% in 2009 and comapred to a fall of 6.0% in the prior year. In 2009, the key watch industry declined by 20%, and compared to a decline of 5.3% a year earlier and growth of 2.1% in 2007, control and instrumentation fell by 8.7%, telecommunications by an estimated 10.7%, computing by 14.6%, components 12.3% and communications and radar by 16.3%.
