Micro display is defined as any high density (about 800 lines per inch of pixel density) display which is less than or equal to 2 inches diagonally. The high density of these displays means that the magnification system can be used to create much larger images from a tiny source. The electronic displays have been around in the market for more than forty years now and we have seen computer screens of all possible sizes starting form large mainframes to small handheld displays and now the micro displays. The micro displays use various types of technology ranging from Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) to using Organic LED’s (OLED’s).
Micro displays have its applications ranging from the defense sector to aerospace and medical surgeries as well. Global Micro Displays Market is on the rise owing to the fact that it is easy to use and the user has his hands free while using a head mounted micro display.
Some of the prominent players in the micro displays market are eMagin, Micron, Micro Display Corporation, eLCOS Micro display Technology, Inc. and many more.
