The focus of this training program is on hand soldering basics using tin-lead solder. For a comparative program on hand soldering basics using lead free solder, please see DVD-43C. For a video comparison and explanation of the differences between tin-lead and lead free hand soldering in general, see our program DVD-45C.
DVD-42C explains proper workstation practices, personal safety considerations, ESD prevention, soldering iron types, temperature selection, tip types and applications, heat transfer principles, how to avoid thermal damage, tin-lead solder types, sizes and applications, flux theory, low residue fluxes, wetting principles, soldering through-hole components onto printed circuit boards, tip tinning, tool maintenance, reheating solder, heat sinks / thermal shunts, soldering thick boards, preheating, and flux residue cleaning. It also explains PTH solder joint acceptance requirements from both IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
Available with optional English Subtitles for the hearing-impaired and ESL students, this DVD program includes section review questions, and a final Training Certification Exam* to insure that your students understand and retain the required background knowledge before they begin hands-on training. Also includes a printable Certificate for operators with a passing grade on the exam. Time: 38 minutes.
Includes Training Certification.
Our Online Video Training (OVT) videos provide everything you need to create your own computer-based learning tool -- suitable for your network, company intranet, web-server, or even your next PowerPoint presentation.
The video portion of these computer-based training programs is delivered on CD-R or DVD-R data disc, under the licensing structure specific to your needs. You may purchase a Site License for use throughout one single physical location (including multiple buildings). Or a Global License, for multiple geographic locations.
After you mount these computer-friendly movie files on your PC or server, your students will have immediate, 24/7 access to our video-based training programs directly from their desktop. The video files may be played directly over high-speed networks or internet connections, or copied / downloaded onto local hard drives for playback on a computer within any licensed facility. You may even incorporate these video files into a PowerPoint presentation, or project directly from a laptop for group training.
OVT video files are 640 x 480 MPEG-1 (.mpg), or 320 x 240 Windows Media Video (.wmv) format.
