Summary

Independent 5-year Consumer Electronics Industry Forecasts for Poland.

Poland's consumer electronics devices market, defined as the addressable market for computing devices, mobile handsets and video, audio and gaming products, is estimated at about US$8.0bn in 2021. This is expected to increase at a CAGR of 6.9% to US$10.4bn by 2016, driven by growing popularity of digital lifestyle products such as feature-rich mobile PCs, LCD TV sets and digital cameras.

In 2011, Polish consumer spending showed resilience, bolstered by take-home pay that began to rise in line with accelerating economic growth. Nominal wage growth rang in at 5.8% y-o-y in June, helping to bolster the purchasing power of households. BMI expects that improving confidence among households regarding the economy should spur greater spending on digital lifestyle items such as smartphones and LED TV sets.

Computers
Computer hardware accounted for about 46% of Poland's consumer electronics spending in 2015, with demand from key verticals such as government and military. BMI forecasts Polish domestic hardware sales of US$3.7bn in 2012. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2012-2016 period is forecast at about 8.0%, driven by demand for notebooks and tablets.

AV Devices
AV devices accounted for about 30% of Poland's consumer electronics spending in 2011. Poland's domestic AV device market is projected at US$2.3bn in 2012. Due to declining total sales of video products, a CAGR of 3.4% is projected for 2012-2016, despite continued growth in the flat-screen TV set category.

Mobile Handsets
Mobile handset sales accounted for about 24% of Poland's consumer electronics spending in 2011. Polish market handset sales are expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.4% to US$2.8bn in 2016. Sales will be dominated by the replacement market, with growing demand for smartphones and 3G handsets. Operator campaigns to attract higher value customers and push their mobile data services will drive smartphone sales.
