Summary

This study presents the five-year forecast for U.S. mobile phone shipments. The U.S. mobile phone market will grow slowly, now that subscriber levels have hit their saturation point. What will change, however, is the trend toward more high-speed devices running on 4G networks.

User demand for data will drive the need for faster networks and similarly faster mobile phones on these networks. This does not altogether spell the end of 2.5G and 3G devices. These will become the new stage for mass-market devices, which can also provide data and are also efficient at voice telephony.
