Summary

Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is an Internet protocol based wireless solution that enables delivery of wireless broadband services. WiMAX is based on IEEE 802.16 standard that enables high speed data communication due to high bandwidth. It uses Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation scheme over code division multiple access (CDMA) and General packet radio service (GPRS) due to higher bandwidth efficiency. It is the first 4G technology that is available commercially.
