Unit volumes and associated revenue, on a global level, for each of the three primary pay TV distribution models — cable, satellite, and telco/IPTV — are included. Segmentation is also provided for high-definition (HD), digital video recorder (DVR), and 3D-capable set-top boxes. This study does not address the free-to-air or terrestrial box segments.

Analysts predict that the digital pay TV set-top box market will experience a 5.6% 2010–2015 compound annual growth rate. Growth will be driven by factors including the ongoing worldwide expansion of telco TV services and increased consumer demand for high-definition and digital video recorder–enabled set-top boxes.
