The electronics industry in Israel is heavily orientated towards supply of defence and communications requirements. Other main areas are medical equipment, control and instrumentation, and components. The production of consumer products is very limited. Electronics production grew rapidly, initially due to the need to invest in sophisticated and complex electronic systems for defence purposes. The flow from the defence sector had led to the development of state of-the-art civilian applications.
